Minister joins in day of fun and fishing at the Waterworks
Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has praised all those involved with the Families at the Waterworks Angling Club in North Belfast, who held their annual Christmas pike competition today.
Attending the event, the minister said:
“I would like to congratulate the Families at the Waterworks Angling Club for the work it has done in developing the Waterworks site to become a valuable community asset. This facility, in an area deprived of social amenities, is enjoyed not only by anglers but by the whole community.
“My Department is pleased to be associated with the club, and we have supported it in organising a number of cross-community events. Angling is a sport open to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Everyone from the serious competition angler to the recreational fisherman can take part, and enjoy the experience.
“Today was about the competition and there was so shortage of skill on display from the pikers. I praise the club committee for an excellent event which every year goes from strength to strength.”
