O'Reilly calls on Labour TD Brendan Ryan to clarify meeting
Further to media reports that Labour TD Brendan Ryan attended a meeting with Minister Alan Kelly which resulted in the suspension of a tender, Sinn Féin has called on Mr Ryan to clarify his position.
Louise O'Reilly said:
'Brendan Ryan attended a meeting with the Minister which was attended by representatives of a company with a monitoring base in Donabate that was tendering for a government contract.
The tender process had to be subsequently suspended.
It is both worrying and disturbing that no minutes of this meeting have been published and Deputy Ryan needs to tell the voters in Fingal what exactly was discussed at this meeting.
When the Labour Party agreed to prop up Fine Gael they promised us a new style of government, instead we get more of the same.
Ryan has done nothing for the people of Fingal and in fact voted for every cut and supported the selloff of Aer Lingus, a major employer in Fingal.
It is very rare to hear of Deputy Ryan in the media and this story is of both local and national significance. It is essential that Deputy Ryan explain to the people of Fingal what exactly transpired at this secret meeting, what his role was and why this lead to the suspension of the tender process.'
