Nic Cormaic calls on sitting TDs in Rathdown to respond to RTE Investigates
Local Sinn Féin councillor Sorcha Nic Cormaic has labelled the scandalous practices revealed by ‘RTE Investigates’ as appalling.
Nic Cormaic said:
“Like all citizens I am deeply appalled at the levels of corruption still evident in this state. I commend those who worked on the programme for bringing this to light.
I echo calls by my Party President Gerry Adams for an independent regulator to be set up.
In May of this year, Sinn Féin brought forward a private members’ bill calling for an independent planning regulator. The sitting government voted against that bill.
There is no point in Fine Gael and Labour condemning corruption if they have little intention of tackling it.”
Nic Cormaic added:
“Both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have been at the coalface of some of the most repugnant examples of corruption in recent years. Throughout its history the Labour Party has been content in going into power with both of them, acting as both parties’ enabler.
I also call on both Cllr. Madigan, Sen. White, and sitting Deputies from the area to publicity condemn the abhorrent levels of corruption revealed by last week’s programme.
