Cultural centre will enhance Belfast Gaeltacht
Sinn Féin MLA Rosie McCorley has said the announcement by culture minister Carál Ní Chuilin allocating £160,000 for a new Irish language cultural hub in Springfield area is great news for the entire community.
Ms. McCorley said:
“Ollionad na Carraige cultural hub will add a new dimension to the creation of an Irish language district in West Belfast.
“The announcement that the Minister Carál Ní Chuilín is to allocate £160,00 to add to funding already secured through Belfast City Council will allow the centre to come to fruition.
“As more and more people become fluent through Irish language education and the Líofa scheme it is crucial we create services that deliver through the medium of Irish.
“This centre will provide support for the Irish language community including a cultural hub which will allow Gaeilgeoirí to express their language in everyday use.
“The centre will add to the growing Gaeltacht area of West Belfast and allow more people to experience and learn about the richness of the Irish language.”
