Further Engagement needed with Nurses – Ó Caoláin
Sinn Féin Spokesperson for Health, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD, has voiced his regret that talks aimed at averting strikes in Emergency Departments across the country next Tuesday have broken down.
Deputy Ó Caoláin said:
“While we regret that talks between the INMO and Health Service management representatives failed to progress matters regarding the appalling situation patients and Emergency Department staff are forced to deal with in hospitals across the country, it is understood by all fair observers that nurses have neither taken their decisions to instigate industrial action lightly or will endeavour to in any way inconvenience patients and members of the public.
“It is my wish that further engagement should take place and that no effort should be spared to overcome the immediate difficulties presenting.”
