McMullan calls for investment strategy for East Antrim
Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has said an urgent investment strategy is needed in the East Antrim area.
Mr McMullan said;
"Recently released figures have highlighted the fact that East Antrim area has once again been overlooked in terms of funding from Invest NI.
"In fact, Carrickfergus was 24th out of 26 in terms of funding received from Invest NI. This shows the stark reality of the lack of investment in the area.
"It received £1,350,252, which works out as £34.52 per capita, compared to £128,159,245 which is £452 per capita in south Belfast.
"This is an area which needs a dedicated investment strategy in growing the economy, creating and encouraging employment, and giving young people a reason to stay at home rather than be forced to leave to seek work elsewhere.
"I will be writing to the Enterprise Minister to ask what is being done to prioritise investment and job creation in Carrickfergus and the wider East Antrim area."
