655 Homes be to built in Coolock are welcome but serious concerns for Traffic management exist– Councillor Denise Mitchell

15 December, 2015 - by Denise Mitchell

Speaking after the announcement from Dublin City Council that 655 houses and apartments will be built on lands beside the Oscar Traynor Road.

Coolock Councillor Denise Mitchell said,

 “I welcome this announcement from Dublin City Council about the development of these lands.  It has been a long time coming.

The fact that lands may be developed in five different lots may make it more sustainable than previous plans for the area.

Residents have lived with the uncertainty for decades now of what were proposed for that land.

Many local families will benefit from the additional housing in the area.”

Councillor Mitchell further added;

“I do however have serious concerns about the Traffic element of this development.

There seems to be a heavy concentration being directed towards the Oscar Traynor Road.

Anyone that is familiar with the Oscar Traynor Road will know that it is already at gridlock.

I have asked Dublin City Council to complete a traffic management plan in the area before any development takes place.

It is completely unfair on the residents living in Woodlawn and Kilmore, who by the looks of this proposal will have to endure most of the additional traffic.”
