Phibsboro LAP must go ahead- Cllr Séamas McGrattan
Sinn Féin Dublin city councillor Séamas McGrattan as called on his fellow councillors to vote for the LAP for Phibsboro to go ahead.
Speaking ahead of a specially convened council meeting tonight, Cllr McGrattan said:
“Sinn Féin has been heavily involved in the LAP process since it began almost 10 years ago. In the original plan I fought hard with DCC management to keep as much of the famous Dalymount Park turf in the plaza which was due to be developed on that site.
Much has changed in the seven years since the original plan was agreed on, but height has always been the main issue within the plan.
The purpose of a local area plan for Phibsboro is to stimulate some life into this historic district of the City, but must also maintain the area as a low rise area.
Sinn Féin believe that too much time, effort and resources, on behalf of DCC and the local community, has gone into this process for it to fail now.
We support the proposal to restart or if possible maintain the LAP.
Failing this, the previously agreed parts of the plan must be included in the new City Development Plan.”
