Ritchie doesn't understand basic workings of North South bodies

29 December, 2015 - by Conor Murphy

Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said it is clear that Margaret Ritchie doesn't understand the workings of the North South bodies.

 Mr Murphy said,

“It is quite clear that Margaret Ritchie doesn’t understand the workings of the North South bodies or her party's role in Executive decision making.

“As the nominees have come up for reappointment and the UUP have removed themselves from the Executive then they are not entitled to appoint any people to the bodies.

“This decision was taken by the Executive collectively, on which the SDLP has a minister. So if the SDLP had any objections then the time and place to raise them was during that Executive meeting.

“Her confusion is further evidence of a dysfunctional party without direction or cohesion and asleep at the wheel who don’t understand the basic mechanisms of the Good Friday Agreement.”
