Kearney welcomes announcement of A6 construction work
Sinn Féin's Declan Kearney has welcomed news that construction work on the upgrade of the A6 between Randalstown and the Castledawson roundabout is to begin this year.
Mr Kearney said;
"News that work on 14 kilometres of new dual carriageway between Randalstown and the Toome Bypass and on to the Castledawson roundabout will begin later this year is welcome.
"The funding for the project was secured in the recent 2016/17 Executive budget las part of a huge investment in key infrastructural projects which will also see the upgrade of the A5.
"Not only is this a major investment which will help the economies of areas along the route and reduce journey times between Belfast and the north west, it will also provide a much-needed boost to our construction industry.
"Sinn Féin have been campaigning for the upgrade of the A6 for many years and this announcement is a further step forward towards the full completion of the project."
