Ó Caoláin welcomes deferment of nurses strike
Sinn Féin Health spokesperson Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has welcomed news this evening that the planned strike by nurses has been deferred following a unanimous decision by the INMO Executive Council to accept a set of proposals with the Health Service Executive.
Speaking this evening Deputy Ó Caoláin said;
“This evening’s news is very welcome indeed and I commend the nurses union for their work on this issue.
“It should be remembered that this was a last resort effort by the nurses to get the government to deal with the issue of overcrowding and understaffing in our Emergency Departments.
“It is important now that the HSE lives up to its commitments in this agreement and that it is implemented promptly.”
