2016 is the time to end the domination of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil – Adams
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD, speaking tonight in Kells at the campaign launch of Cllr. Darren O’Rourke, Sinn Féin’s candidate for the Meath East constituency, has said:
“Decision after decision taken by this Government has caused chaos in the lives of working families.
“Today there are 434 patients on hospital trolleys. 1,500 are children in emergency accommodation. There has been a massive drop in family incomes and hundreds of thousands of our young people have emigrated. All because of decisions taken by this Government.
“Fianna Fáil would do no better. In Government, Fianna Fáil presided over corruption and economic chaos.
“2016 is the time to make change. It is time to end the domination of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil and to elect a progressive Sinn Féin led Government.
“Sinn Féin will help low and middle income families by increasing the minimum wage, abolishing the property tax and water charges. We will build 100,000 social and affordable homes and help those in mortgage distress. We will increase spending on healthcare by €3.3 billion to move from a failing two tier health system to universal healthcare, and we will rebuild rural Ireland by ensuring we have communities where the quality of life is matched by the quality of public services.
“We will work to secure a referendum on Irish unity and begin the practical preparations for Irish re-unification. That will mean building all-Ireland sectors in environment, health, energy, education and agriculture, and a single island economy.
“The Centenary year is a time for national renewal, a time to build and a time for real political progress to be made across the island.”
