Cllr Carney Boud welcomes Second Level Educate Together school in Whitehall - Clonturk Community College

11 January, 2016 - by Cathleen Carney Boud

Sinn Féin councillor for Whitehall Cathleen Carney Boud has welcomed the news that plans have been announced for an Educate Together school in the area.

Speaking this evening Cllr Carney Boud said:

“As a member of the City of Dublin Education Board I am delighted to see that an agreement has been made for a second level Educate Together School in the area.

With the growing numbers of primary school children attending the multi denominational schools around Dublin North West it was very important that calls for a follow on secondary were acted upon. Educate Together groups in the area have been campaigning for a number of years.

I want to thank both the representatives of the City of Dublin Education Board and of the Educate Together committee that have worked hard to have a joint agreement on a model, ethos and vision statement for the school.

We have serious flaws in our education system, where 90% of our state-funded primary schools have religious patronage and the demand for more multi denominational schools such as Educate Together is growing.

Applications for enrolments for 2016/17 will be accepted soon and will be advertised in due course.”
