Cllr Louise Dunne calls on South Dublin CoCo to support Save Moore Street campaign
Sinn Féin councillor Louise Dunne has submitted a motion to South Dublin County Council calling on it to support those who are occupying the historical buildings on Moore Street.
Speaking to the motion Cllr Dunne said:
“The government must listen to the concerns of those involved in the various campaigns to save this battlefield site.
“My motion also calls for the Council to call on the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Heather Humphreys to immediately intervene to halt works at the historic Moore Street battlefield site.
If the works aren’t halted immediately the national monument of no. 14-16 will be robbed of its historical and architectural context and its attraction as tourist site if the terrace on either side is destroyed. “
Cllr Dunne added:
“Additionally, I asked for this Council to write to Dublin City Council asking it to make provision in its budget for a battlefield quarter project.”
