Sinn Féin aim to elect two TD's in Dublin Bay north -Councillor Denise Mitchell

18 January, 2016 - by Denise Mitchell TD

General election candidate Denise Mitchell and Councillor for Beaumont Donaghmede has said Sinn Féin will be aiming to elect two TD’s in Dublin Bay North  in the upcoming general election.

Speaking tonight at her campaign launch in Ayrfield,Coolock

She said,

“Sinn Féin is on course to elect two Sinn Féin TD’s at the next general election probably in February.

Both I and Cllr Micheal MacDonncha have been canvassing the length and breadth of this constituency for the last year from Howth to Donneycarney to Coolock and Kilbarrack.  We have brought our message and policies to the doors of the residents in Dublin Bay North.

It is quite clear that people not just want a change of government but also a change in direction.

Over the last five years Fine Gael and Labour have continued the mantra of Fianna Fáil by putting big business and banks ahead of those who are homeless, ahead of those who struggle to pay Water Charges and the Property Tax and more than ever ahead of patients in our Hospitals.

In this constituency is home to the state’s biggest hospital.   Every day we see unacceptable levels of patients lying on trolleys, their dignity torn to shreds by this government.

We see almost 6,000 people on the housing waiting list in Dublin Bay North with 400 of those on the list over ten years.  There has been no progress whatsoever in the area of housing only despair for people who find themselves with nowhere to go.

This government thinks that a hotel room is an acceptable place to rare a child.   That alone is why they should never be given the responsibility of governing over our children ever again.”

She further added,

“For the people that are lying on trolleys tonight or the families staying in Hotels in this constituency, they need Sinn Féin in government and they need the maximum number of Sinn Féin TD’s elected for Dublin Bay North.

I along with my friend and colleague Cllr Michael MacDonncha will leave no stone unturned in getting our message out to the people of Dublin Bay North.
