Taoiseach must confirm whether insurance companies have submitted flood insurance report – Adams
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has this afternoon called on An Taoiseach Enda Kenny to confirm if insurance companies have issued their report on flood insurance within the one week deadline he gave them at his much publicised meeting with industry representatives recently.
Deputy Adams said:
“The most recent bout of flooding has caused devastation in many areas throughout the State and to families whose homes have been destroyed.
“In the aftermath of the crisis, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny belatedly called a meeting of the main insurance companies and talked tough on seeking solutions to the fact that many homeowners are unable to acquire flood insurance.
“Despite tough talking on the Government’s part in the immediate aftermath of the meeting, we have heard nothing since and perhaps, whilst he mingles with billionaires in Davos, An Taoiseach can confirm if the insurance companies present at the meeting have issued their report on flood insurance within the one week deadline he gave them.
“If the report has been received, he must without delay make it available to the opposition and to the public, whose interests are ultimately paramount in this whole process and who need real solutions, not just periodic bluster from Government Ministers.”
