Education Minister must explain why Gaelscoil Bharra has been put on the long finger again

22 January, 2016 - by Mary Lou McDonald TD

Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald has reacted angrily to news today that the Department of Education has once again put the building of Gaelscoil Bharra on the long finger.

The Dublin Central TD was speaking this afternoon after getting word that funding for the building of the school has been held back once again.

She said;

“After years of delay it now appears that the department has put Gaelscoil Bharra on the long finger again.

“This is an absolute disgrace.  The conditions in the prefab accommodation for children and teachers are a disgrace.

“It says a lot about the government’s version of stability when children are forced to go to school in these conditions.

“This Fine Gael/Labour Government now joins previous Fianna Fáil led governments that have led the people of Cabra on a merry dance in relation to our school.

“The Minister needs to come out and make a public statement and explain why the people of Cabra have been put on the back burner once again.”
