British government must remove its veto on disclosure - Kelly
Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has stated that the British government must remove its veto on disclosing information to families who lost loved ones in the conflict as the way to progress.
His call follows the Chief Constables comments tonight on legacy issues at Queens University.
Mr Kelly said:
"The issue of dealing the past and how to progress it was addressed in the Stormont House Agreement.
"The structures to deliver this were not set up due to the insistence of the British government that they maintain a veto power on any issue relating to the disclosure of information to victims families .
"It is this element that seems to be missing fro the Chief Constable's analysis.
"Victims of the conflict have a right to the truth about the past."
