Lynch welcomes funding to raise Fermanagh roads

27 January, 2016 - by Seán Lynch

Sinn Féin MLA Sean Lynch has welcomed the announcement that roads in Fermanagh are to be raised in order to prevent flooding.

Mr Lynch said;

"Today's announcement that £625,000 is to be spent on raising key roads in Fermanagh to protect them from flooding is welcome news.

"The recent flooding in Fermanagh meant people had to make diversions of up to 50 miles because roads were closed.

"In particular, I welcome the fact that the road between Derrylin and Lisnaskea will be raised as the closure of this road created traffic chaos for several weeks during the recent flooding.

"The Wattlebridge Road in Newtownbutler and the Inishmore Road in Maguiresbridge will also be raised.

"This is part of a wider flood prevention scheme, led by party colleague and Agriculture Minister Michelle O'Neill, which provides help for homeowners and small businesses."
