North can benefit from cooperation with Flemish parliament - Kearney
Sinn Féin National Chairperson Declan Kearney has said the north can benefit from cooperation with the Flemish parliament on issues of tourism and trade.
Mr Kearney said;
"Following our visit to the European Parliament in Brussels, Pat Doherty and I visited the Flemish Parliament and met with Ben Weyts, Flemish Minister for Mobility, Public Works, Flemish Periphery, Tourism and Welfare, and Jan Peumans, Speaker of the Flemish Parliament.
"We discussed the recent developments in the political process in the north, including the outworking of the Fresh Start Agreement.
"We also discussed how a possible British exit from the European Union would have a disastrous impact on the north of Ireland.
"We explored how the Flemish parliament could cooperate with the Assembly, particularly around tourism and trade.
"They were extremely receptive to the idea of closer cooperation between the Flemish parliament and the north.
"A delegation from the Flemish parliament will visit the Assembly in June to explore how we can work together in the future."
