Sinn Féin can deliver a TD for Dublin Bay South – Andrews

2 February, 2016

Cllr. Chris Andrews, Sinn Féin candidate for Dublin Bay South has said that Sinn Féin can win a seat in the constituency.

Speaking at his launch in the Pearse Institute, the former home of Padraig Pearse, Cllr. Andrews said:

“It is with great honour that I have been selected to run as Sinn Féin’s candidate for Dublin Bay South.

“It isn’t lost on me that we are standing in what was home of Padraig and Willie Pearse who, 100 years ago, led a gallant rising in this city that would define this country for the next century.

“And it is not in isolation that I talk of the men and women of 1916. The vision that they set out for Ireland in the Proclamation is as relevant today as it ever was.

“The ideas that they put forward have yet to be realised, though many in the political establishment claim to be the inheritors of their legacy.

“Let us be clear, the only inheritors of the legacy of 1916 are the people of Ireland.

“The spirit of 1916 can be seen today when thousands take to the streets against the austerity agenda which has been enforced by the Fine Gael and Labour government.

“I joined Sinn Féin because I believe that they are party that will deliver a fair recovery for the people of Ireland.

“I believe that Sinn Féin will follow through on the ideals which were set out 100 years ago on the steps of the GPO. Where others talk, Sinn Féin will deliver.

“In government, Sinn Féin will deliver 100,000 social and affordable homes, and do what Fine Gael and Labour failed to do, tackle the housing crisis and homelessness.

“Sinn Féin will increase funding in healthcare by €3.3 billion in order to move from a failing two tier healthcare system to a universal healthcare system.

In this constituency, we have seen cuts to local services.Donnybrook and Terenure Garda stations have seen their hours cut.

“Sinn Féin will deliver for these communities. In a few short weeks, Sinn Féin can elect a TD for Dublin Bay South.”
