Is Enda Kenny hiding already? – Adams
Speaking after Enda Kenny failed to turn up for the first leaders interview of the election campaign on the 6.1 this evening, Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has said that it is simply not good enough for the outgoing Taoiseach to dodge public debate during this election.
Teachta Adams said Mr Kenny has spent five years dodging questions in the Dáil and is now dodging questions from the media on the first day of the election campaign.
“Every other leader of Ireland’s main political parties participated in the RTÉ 6.1 Leaders’ interviews, the first opportunity for each leader to set out the stall of their party. Enda Kenny did not seem to think that it was worth his while and sent Leo Varadkar in his place.
“Enda spent five years dodging questions and it appears that this election campaign will be no different.
“Mr Kenny must realise that if he cannot answer the difficult questions during an election, he cannot expect to instil confidence in the electorate.”
