Fearon encourages young people to make sure their voice is heard
Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon has encouraged young people to make sure they are registered to vote in the upcoming Assembly election.
Ms Fearon said;
"In the coming months people across Ireland will go to the polls in two of the most important elections this island has ever seen.
"We have an historic opportunity to radically change the politics of Ireland and to realise the commitment made in the 1916 Proclamation to 'cherish all children of the nation equally.'
"The scenes of young people queuing outside Garda stations in the south to pick up voter registration forms within hours of the announcement of the general election shows there is a real hunger for change.
"Young people clearly want to play a role in public and political life and want to ensure their voices are heard.
"It is vitally important that the voice of young people is heard and that their energy, enthusiasm and ideas are listened to.
"I am urging all young people to make sure they are registered so their voice can he heard on polling day.
"If young people, particularly students, are not going to be at home on polling day or unable to cast their vote for other reasons then they should apply for a postal or proxy vote."
