What is the British government hiding in Arkinson case? Pat Doherty MP

14 February, 2016 - by Pat Doherty

West Tyrone Sinn Féin MP Pat Doherty has described the British government’s use of Public Interest Immunity certificates in the case of murdered schoolgirl Arlene Arkinson as extremely disturbing after the NIO approved a PII to withhold documents linked to the case.

Pat Doherty asked:

“What is the British government covering up in the case of a 15 year old schoolgirl murdered by a serial paedophile killer?

“It is now up to the Coroner whether the PII application will be accepted. I hope that he decides in favour of the Arkinson family’s right to all information held by the PSNI in regard to this investigation.

“The British government and the PSNI must disclose the reasons for the use of PIIs in the murder and disappearance of Arlene Arkinson. Was Robert Howard or anyone else close to this investigation an agent of the state or working for Special Branch?

“The Arkinson family have a right to know.”
