Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael cut from the same cloth – Cllr Sarah Holland

15 February, 2016 - by Sarah Holland

Sinn Féin Councillor and General Election candidate Sarah Holland has said that Fianna Fáil’s claim of differences between themselves and Fine Gael is ludicrous.

Speaking this morning, Cllr Holland said,

“Fianna Fáil this morning launched its plan to “Support Mortgage Holders.” They have committed to protect borrowers from vulture funds to ensure fairer practice in the sector and to retaining mortgage interest relief until 2020.

“This is the same Fianna Fáil that destroyed the Irish economy.

“Fianna Fáil says that in government they will stand up to the banks. If they do it would be the first time ever. Fianna Fáil has given the banks whatever they wanted time and time again.

“They also claimed today that there are real differences between themselves and Fine Gael, this is ludicrous.

The Dublin South West candidate continued,

“Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have the same outlook, the same positions, and the same objectives as each other. They are cut from the same cloth.

“Fianna Fáil signed off on Irish Water and water meters two months before the Troika showed up and gifted us with the memorandum of understanding. Fianna Fáil is now blaming Fine Gael for implementing a plan that Fianna Fail designed.

“Better wages and a greater supply of social housing to keep house prices down have an important role to play in making homes affordable. Sinn Féin in government will guarantee fairness for mortgage holders, protection of the family home and support people to buy their first home.

“Only Sinn Féin has a plan for dealing with the legacy of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Labour's shameful actions on the mortgage issue.“ ENDS
