Adams calls on Reilly to take action on closure of Clare childcare facilities
Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams has called on the Children’s Minister, James Reilly to take immediate action after the closure of the West Clare Early Years Centres.
Mr Adams made his comments following a meeting with Sinn Féin’s General Election candidate for Clare, Noeleen Moran.
Gerry Adams said:
“Four hundred families have been left without childcare services since Monday morning and 53 jobs have been lost as a result of the closures in Kilrush, Kilkee, Lissycasey, Kilmihil and Kildysart.
“Disgracefully, the workers at these facilities were informed of this by text yesterday. This is no way to conduct business.
“I am calling on the Minister for Children to intervene immediately in this situation to save these jobs and to restore the badly needed childcare facilities in west Clare.”
