Labour Ministers must act to prevent strike breaking tactics- Louise O’Reilly TD
Louise O'Reilly the newly elected Sinn Féin TD for Fingal has today called on Joan Burton and the remaining Labour ministers in the caretaker government to put pressure on the Minister for Transport to intervene in the Luas dispute.
'It is very worrying that a company who has signed a contract with the government has announced that it will be using what can only be regarded as strike breaking tactics in the dispute with the tram drivers.
We are calling on the Labour Ministers who are still in office albeit in a caretaker capacity to ensure that this type of action does not take place.
It is not acceptable that the Labour Party will do nothing while collecting their ministerial allowances. This dispute must be settled and settled quickly and the Minister for Transport must intervene now. During the course of the election we heard a lot from the Labour Party about their intention to stand up for workers - now, they have an opportunity to stand up and prevent the deployment of strike breaking tactics and we are urging them to take this opportunity.'
