Cllr Paul Donnelly hosts information meeting for Cruise Park Residents

15 March, 2016 - by Paul Donnelly

Sinn Féin councillor Paul Donnelly has tonight hosted a meeting with the residents of Cruise Park in Tyrrelstown.

The meeting was organised to hear the concerns of the residents after they were notified of their pending evictions.

Speaking this evening Cllr Donnelly said:

“At this evening’s council meeting I proposed a suspension of standing orders to deal with this urgent matter.

“I also called for the Twinlite property management group to publicly commit to a suspension of any eviction notices unless the tenants have alternative accommodation.

Furthermore the Fingal County Council housing department must immediately establish a working group to put a plan in place to deal with any homeless cases that will arise from the mass evictions of 208 families. “

Cllr Donnelly added:

"I am very pleased that Threshold also committed to working with the residents affected and will provide them with any support that Threshold can offer".

I also asked that Fingal Council would write to the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly to ensure the enactment of strong legislative protection for tenants whose homes have been bought by vulture funds as in the case of Cruise Park, Tyrrelstown.
