Community input needed in development of Sirocco site - Ó Donnghaile

21 March, 2016 - by Mairead O’Donnell

Sinn Féin Councillor Niall Ó Donnghaile has said that the vacant Sirocco site needs to be developed in conjunction with the local community.

 Councillor Ó Donnghaile said,

“I welcome the sale of this site that has laid vacant for many years and believe that its development can help transform the local area as well as benefit significant and strategic change for Belfast as a city, in line with the vision set out in Council's master plan.

“It is a massive site with massive potential to help address decades of under-investment and local communities need to be central to the progression and development of the site.

"We have worked diligently with previous owners of the Sirocco site and we are keen to work closely with the new owners for the benefit of all concerned, not least the citizens of Belfast and in particularly the surrounding communities that border the site.”
