Adams expresses concern at threats of eviction
Sinn Féin Louth TD Gerry Adams has expressed his “serious concern at reports that the Traveller families currently on a car park in Dundalk have been told by An Garda Síochána to leave.”
Teachta Adams said:
“The decision by Louth County Council to evict 22 families from the Woodland halting site has precipitated a human crisis for many them. Families, many with small children, who have already been traumatised by being evicted now face a second eviction from their current site.
"Louth County Council bears the primary legal responsibility for dealing with this crisis.
"It should now work with the traveller families to ensure that no more face eviction and that every effort is made to find alternative accommodation."
