Talks process must conclude speedily - Peadar Tóibín TD
Sinn Féin TD Peadar Tóibín has said Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil have wasted the last six weeks and called on them to conclude their talks as soon as possible so that TDs can get on with the job they were elected to do.
Speaking this afternoon Deputy Tóibín said;
“Both Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil have wasted the past six weeks and severely curtailed the ability of TDs to do the job they were elected to do.
“It was clear to all that Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil should have been talking to each other. Both the numbers and the compatibility of their policies dictate that they should at least talk.
“Sinn Féin does not want to see this type of coalition but we cannot deny the numbers and we want the issue sorted sooner rather than later so we can get on with the work we were sent here to do.
“The parties need to conclude these talks quickly and reconvene the Dáil so that we can get on with the job we were elected to do.
“If they cannot come to an agreement then they need to let us know next week and they need to realise that the consequence of that is another election.”
