British MOD must produce full papers to Rowntree Inquest - McCann
Sinn Féin MLA Fra McCann has said it is disgraceful that the British Ministry of Defence have withheld vital information in the inquest of Francis Rowntree, the 11-year-old child killed by the British army in 1972.
Mr McCann said,
“It is unacceptable that British Army logs have been physically doctored by cutting out sections of the pages relating to the death of Francis Rowntree in 1972.
“The missing information contains the vital information around the time that Francis was struck by a doctored rubber bullet fired at point blank range.
“The British Government cannot claim that this information undermines ‘National Security’. They need to provide the full transcripts to the inquest.
“The family of Francis Rowntree has waited 44 years to have an inquest into his killing and these documents need to be produced in order for the family to have the truth on how Francis died.”
