Doolan welcomes €1m funding for Parks upgrade

Sinn Féin's Dublin South East Representative, Councillor Daithí Doolan, has welcomed the announcement that, "over €1 million will be spent on upgrading and developing the parks and beaches in the Dublin South East area."

Speaking in Sandymount today, Cllr. Doolan said:

"I am delighted at the City Council‚s announcement to make the money available. This funding is badly needed and will be a great investment in our communities and environment. Over €1 million will be spent on parks in Ringsend, Merrion Square, Herbert Park and on upgrading the Shelly Banks of Sandymount beach. The work is scheduled to start immediately after Easter and will be completed to by the end of 2005."

In conclusion Cllr. Doolan congratulated, "the residents and community groups who have long campaigned for this funding to be made available." ENDS
