Ferris at Banna Strand for gun-running commemoration

21 April, 2016 - by Martin Ferris TD

Speaking from Banna Strand today, Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris said he was glad to be present at the State Commemoration of patriots Roger Casement, Robert Monteith and Daniel Bailey who attempted to land 20,000 rifles there on Good Friday1916.

The Kerry TD said:

“The great crowd who attended is an indication of the great pride Kerry people have for our republican past.

“There was real emotion felt on Banna Strand today when Casement’s speech was re-enacted on the spot.

“It is right and fitting that President Higgins should have come here to commemorate Casement and his comrades and I am glad to have been present for the ceremonies.”
