Adams Expresses Condolences on the Death of David Beresford
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has expressed his shock and sadness at the news of the death of journalist and author David Beresford and has extended his deepest condolences to David’s family.
Gerry Adams said:
“David Beresford was the Guardian’s Belfast journalist during the prison protests in the H Blocks and Armagh at the end of the 1970’s and early 80’s. He covered the hunger strikes and after it had concluded he wrote ‘Ten Men Dead’ probably the best book written about that period.
David was an exceptional journalist. He was also the Guardian’s reporter in South Africa during tumultuous changes in that country.
He also faced huge challenges in his own life battling Parkinson’s disease.
I want to extend my deepest condolences to David’s family.”
