British government must end attempts to block access to files - Hazzard
Sinn Féin's Chris Hazzard has said the British government must end its efforts to block access to public files for families of those killed in the conflict.
Mr Hazzard said;
"Only last week British Secretary of State Theresa Villiers has tried to block the release of public records, including files relating to internment.
"Theresa Villiers and her government claim to be serious about addressing the legacy of the conflict but her actions in attempting to block the disclosure of these files tells another story.
"By contrast, Sinn Féin's Carál Ní Chuilín has already released files to more than 160 families since 2013 who have requested them.
"Access to this information could assist families in their campaigns for truth and the British government needs to end its policy of continually trying to hide its role in the conflict."
