Sinn Féin welcomes go ahead for National Children’s Hospital

28 April, 2016 - by Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD, Máire Devine

Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD and Senator Máire Devine have welcomed the granting of planning permission for the National Children's Hospital on the St. James Hospital campus.

Deputy Ó Snodaigh said:

"This is very welcome news and a great day for children’s medical care.

“However considering this area is one of the most disadvantaged in the state, care has to be given to the needs of the immediate locality – they must not be negatively impacted by this positive project.

“The delivery of promised short and long term community gain by An Bord Pleanála is paramount and I will continue to work with them to ensure the needs of the community are met.”

Senator Devine said:

“The decision on the hospital will hopefully help local regeneration and create much-needed local jobs.

“As a local who grew up and is living next door to the site I hope that major traffic issues during construction and afterwards, which I highlighted at An Bord Pleanála stage, will be addressed.”
