British government must face up to its responsibilities on legacy - Kelly
Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly has said the British government needs to face up to its responsibilities on dealing with its role in the conflict by providing funding for legacy inquests.
Mr Kelly said;
"It is concerning that plans by the Lord Chief Justice to hold legacy inquests within five years have been put on hold because of a lack of funding.
"This is yet another example of the British government trying to hold up inquests as a way to avoid dealing with its role in the conflict.
"The British government has a clear responsibility to fund legacy inquests and investigations in order to meet its international human rights obligations.
"It needs to face up to its responsibilities and provide adequate funding for legacy inquests and investigations so families can have access to truth.
"Sinn Féin will continue to support families in their campaign for truth."
