O’Brien appointed Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson

11 May, 2016 - by Jonathan O'Brien TD

Sinn Féin TD for Cork North Central, Deputy Jonathan O’Brien, has today been appointed party spokesperson Justice and Equality, and Drug and Alcohol issues.

Deputy O’Brien said;

“I would like to thank Gerry Adams TD for this appointment and I look forward to bringing forward proposals in these areas that are evidence-based and deliverable.

“I will be working closely with the Dáil team here to ensure that the government is held to account on justice and equality matters.

“I want to focus on tackling crime, as well as supporting community policing, and urging the government to take initiatives to combat organised crime that will actually work, as well as assist the communities living under the threat of intimidation and crime.

“I will also table radical proposals to tackle Ireland’s drug problems, which I have seen the devastating effect of within my own community in Cork.

“Sinn Féin will be the only real voice of opposition within Leinster House and we are determined to ensure changes take place in the approach to justice within this state.”
