Sinn Féin welcomes commitment on Brú hostel - Cllr. Daithí Doolan
Sinn Féin welcomes commitment to put the proposed closure of Brú Aimsir homeless hostel on hold.
The committment was made to keep the homeless hostel open following a meeting between An tArd Mhéara Críona NíDhalaigh, Cllr. Daithí Doolan, chair of Dublin City Council's housing committee and Dublin City Council management.
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr. Daithí Doolan said:
"I am happy to announce that the remaining 42 people in the Brú can remain there untill new accommodation is provided. The planned closure has been put on hold. This will come as a relieve to those people who have stayed in the Brú and made use of the excellent services being provided by Dublin City Council and Crosscare.
"The reopening of the other 60 beds is being reviewed over the coming days. This is in line with Sinn Féin's emergency motion passed at the City Council meeting on Monday night. I will continue to campaign to keep the Brú Aimsir open until new, suitable accommodation is provided."
