Adams praises Special Olympics
Sinn Féin Louth TD Gerry Adams has commended all of those involved in the Special Olympics event that took place at the Bush School on Saturday.
The Sinn Féin TD attended the event on Saturday morning and made presentations to some of the successful athletes.
Speaking afterward Gerry Adams said:
“I want to commend all of the athletes, their families and the special Olympic volunteers, including Irish Army personnel, who together made Saturday a hugely enjoyable day for all of the participants.
Over 9000 athletes in 369 clubs participate in sporting competitions across the island organised by Special Olympics Ireland. Saturday’s event was for the north Leinster area.
It was a great day. As well as organising athletics competitions the organisers also provide a Health and Wellbeing project to help with some of the health needs of participants. I was inspired by the determination and spirit of support and co-operation of all of those participating on Saturday. “
