PSNI operation targeting the illegal supply of prescription drugs welcomed - Sheehan

16 May, 2016 - by Pat Sheehan

Sinn Féin MLA for West Belfast Pat Sheehan has welcomed the PSNI operation targeting the illegal supply of prescription drugs and class A and B drugs in West Belfast.

Speaking today Mr Sheehan said:

“The operation targeting the illegal supply and dealing of prescription drugs is to be welcomed.

“These drugs do untold damage to our communities. The target of the dealers will be of course mainly young people and the dangers of these drugs are very clear.

“There create dependency, they wreck lives and in too many cases they have caused death.

“Some of this information was given to the PSNI by Sinn Féin representatives as a result of information passed on to us by members of our community.

“We recognise the success of these latest raids but there is an onus on the PSNI to maintain this pressure to ensure drug pushers find no quarter.

“It is through communities working closely with the PSNI that allow operations like this to be a success.

“Drugs have no place in our communities and we must do whatever we can to eliminate them from our society.”
