Matt Carthy MEP holds productive discussions with INHFA
Sinn Féin MEP Matt Carthy has held what he described as very informative and productive discussions with the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association (INHFA).
Carthy met INHFA representatives on Monday, 16th May at the Association's new headquarters in Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo.
Speaking after the meeting Matt Carthy said:
“I want to thank the INHFA for another informative and productive meeting.
“Our discussions covered a range of issues of concern to Natura and Hillfarmers, including land designations, livestock, sheep support measures, live exports, the CAP review, TTIP and the wider issue of the delivery of services in rural Ireland.
“The INHFA are doing important work in representing the interests of small farmers on marginal land, many of whom are the backbone of the rural west and north west.
“I will be working closely with Sinn Féin Agriculture spokesperson Martin Kenny TD to ensure that the issues raised by the INHFA are pursued with the Department of Agriculture and at the Agriculture Committee in the European Parliament and I look forward to working with the INHFA into the future.”ENDS
