McMullan raises concerns over make-up of EU funding panel
Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has raised concerns about the make-up of a panel set up by Mid and East Antrim Council to distribute EU peace funding with the body that manages European funding in the North.
Mr McMullan said;
"I raised concerns about the fact that a panel set up by Mid and East Antrim Council to distribute £2.6m of EU peace funding is not representative of the local community as it does not contain any nationalist or republican councillors.
"I contacted the Special European Union Programmes Body (SEUPB) to discuss my concerns about the make-up of the panel and they said they were aware of the concerns.
"I made it clear the present make-up of the panel is unacceptable as it is not representative of the community.
"I would urge Mid and East Antrim Council to work with SEUPB and take this opportunity to demonstrate it is serious about representing everyone in the council area equally by making the membership of this panel more representative."
