Labour should return to core principles of Connolly - Adams

20 May, 2016 - by Gerry Adams

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD commenting on Brendan Howlin’s election today as leader of the Labour Party said:

“I wish Mr. Howlin well. It is a matter for the Labour Party to elect their own leadership.

“Sinn Féin elects our leader every year democratically at our Ard Fheis. The Labour leader was elected by a small core of Oireachtas members.

“I hope he learns the lessons of the last five years and sets aside the negative and regressive policies that Labour embraced with some relish while in government and which resulted in their having such a disastrous election. Labour should return to the core principles articulated by James Connolly."
