Sinn Féin meet transport and infrastructure stakeholders - McAleer

25 May, 2016 - by Declan McAleer

Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer has said Sinn Féin met with stakeholders to discuss the transport and infrastructure challenges facing the north west.

Speaking after the event, which was held in Derry’s Guildhall, the West Tyrone MLA said;

"With the new mandate and the new Programme for Government out for consultation, this was an opportune time to have discussions with Translink, ICBAN, Sustrans and City of Derry Airport who are four key stakeholders in this area.

"The workshop identified a number of key challenges such as the urgent need for the A5 and A6 dual carriageways, changing Air Passenger Duty tax, investment in rail, the need for more regular and direct bus routes to Dublin and Belfast and the importance of councils working closer on joint projects such as greenways and cross-border corridors.

"This workshop was one of a series of engagements with key stakeholders and has helped inform our case for investment in transport and infrastructure for the north west."
