Mayor Supports National Ambulance Control Centre Staff in Industrial Action

27 May, 2016 - by Sarah Holland

Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Sarah Holland, has voiced her support for the industrial action being undertaken by Ambulance Drivers at the Tallaght Control Centre.

The SIPTU members of the National Ambulance Service have announced details of industrial action, to affect non-emergency duties, with a work-to-rule action starting on 6th June.

Cllr Holland said

“The Sinn Féin team in Dublin South West support this action.

The drivers have tried to resolve the dispute to no avail – they have taken part in ongoing negotiations with the WRC and feel that management are not honouring the commitments made.”

The action is due to the failure of management to implement agreements reached, following mediation at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), on staffing levels, the filling of permanent vacancies, payment of correct pay rates and retention of staff.

Cllr Holland said

“SIPTU members are calling on management to fully implement all the WRC agreements in order to prevent a further escalation in this dispute, and we support them on that.”
