Time for Action and Delivery for the North Inner City - McDonald
Sinn Féin deputy leader and TD for Dublin Central Mary Lou McDonald has welcomed the statement of Chief Superintendent Pat Leahy that an Garda Síochána is confident of bringing those responsible for the recent spate of murders to justice.
Speaking following a meeting of political and community leaders in the area this evening and a meeting of the Joint Policing Committee this morning, the Dublin Central TD said:
“I want to welcome the resolve of Chief Superintendent Leahy that these criminals will be identified and apprehended before more innocent lives are endangered during this wave of violence that has traumatised the north inner city.
“In particular, I am glad to hear Chief Superintendent Leahy confirm that a Garda investigation is under way into the leaked CCTV footage of the most recent shooting. This was unacceptable, dehumanising, and runs the risk of glamourising this type of barbaric act.
“This evening, I attended a meeting of local community and political figures where I am glad to say the first steps were taken toward developing an integrated plan for the social, economic, educational, and community development of the north inner city. This is a time for action and delivery for the north inner city.”
