McMullan calls for all-Ireland approach to tourism

7 June, 2016 - by Oliver McMullan

Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has called for a more cohesive all-Ireland tourism marketing approach to increase visitor numbers.

Speaking during an adjournment debate on tourism in East Antrim, Mr McMullan said;

"East Antrim is one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland with picturesque views and some of the best scenery around. It is an area of huge potential for growth in tourism.

"Already we have seen more visitors coming to East Antrim thanks to the success of the global hit TV show Game of Thrones, part of which is filmed in the constituency.

"In order to realise the great potential we have in this area we must ensure the area is marketed in the best way possible.

"Tourists view Ireland as a single entity and it should be marketed as such.

"We need to see a more cohesive approach from all the tourism bodies on the island to attract more visitors."
