TAMS II applications now include sheep fencing – Kenny
Sinn Féin Agriculture spokesman Martin Kenny TD today reminded farmers that a sheep fencing element has been added to the current tranche of TAMS II and they should get their applications in now.
Deputy Kenny said:
“Farmers might not be aware that sheep fencing, with no regard to the minimum number of sheep, has been included in the latest TAMS II applications.
“The applications on-line open today and close on 24 June 2016. It is really important that farmers get their applications in so that they can get approval and begin work during the summer months.
“No work should start until approval and approval cannot come until the tranche closes. That is why it is important to get applications in now.
“The department has confirmed that the cost applicable to sheep fencing will be €5.34 per linear metre for sheep mesh with one strand of wire, while those in mountain areas will get a rate of €8.01. There is also grant aid for gateways.
“The Minister said in the Dáil this week that payments for the first two tranches will begin before the end of July.”
